Default Dull Blacks with i950

Hi,

I seem to be getting dull blacks at best with the i950.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Whats the best way to test for BLACK? Correct me if I am wrong but I tried setting the blackpoint to one of the very darkest parts of an image. The prints still lack punch and vibrancy and this is partly due to no real deep BLACK.

Compared to my 3 year old Epson Stylus Color 900, the blacks on the canon i950 in my experience are no where near as deep or dark.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have been using Canon Photo Paper Pro.

(PS Also had trouble still with trying vcarious profiles and getting accurate WYSIWYG...can this be part of the problem?)

Epson has been noted several times as having a black thats 30 percent darker than the canon printers.

Thanks for the info.

For those of us who've bought the Canon, this, I guess, SUCKS!!!

Not a total loss however. You can try and find Epson refill ink and refill your canon ink tank with epson ink and see if that helps. Also I would check with tech support and see if they can't help you make it any darker.
