And what is wrong with your IP6700D.

I have one and have had no problems with it in over a year now.

Nothing is wrong with it. Just wondering if a newer model is coming soon?

I have some inside information. So please don't shooot the messenger. I believe that since it's evident that the AIO (Multifuction), area is growing and it's documented now a days, that about %60 of new printer sales are AIO's, that Canon is not replacing the ip6700d, rather one of their new multifunctions are considered it's next in line, but not a direct replacement. They dropped the price of the new MP970 to $299, from the high price of the MP960 of $399. And the MP970 is the only 6 color photo printer (7 inks including the large pigment black), besides the Pro9000 and Pro9500. I do feel however, that the ip4500 would be a superp alternative (new model, should be in stores now), it's their latest single function machine with the C,M and Y along with photo black and the double 5PG for text. This machine, when they introduced the IP5000, I was taken back with how amazing the color gradation was and with 1PL droplets and 9600x2400 DPI, I've NEVER singled out a pixel yet! So the choice is either going to be one of the newer multi-functions, and then the MP970 if you would like 6 color photo or the IP4500 single function unit.

I believe they are both wonderful units and with the price of AIO's having come down so much and their quality going so far up ever year, it's pretty amazing to have that MP970.
