I currently have an Epson R300 which is about 4 or 5 years old. I'm currently running low on 4 or 5 ink cartridges and will need to replace all of them within the next week, which will run around $70. Best Buy has the R380 for sale for $99. As such, I'm thinking about upgrading to the new printer.

Are the prints and inks that different between these two?My R300 has the older dye inks but the R380 has the new Claria inks, which supposedly are better, brighter, last longer, etc.

Any thouts areappreciated.

if the r300 has been good to you, why not consider putting a continuos ink system on the r300? saves a bundle on ink. i can get about 50-60 A4 borderless photos on one single new original tanks (the yellow runs out first) but with a 100ml CISS, for each bar on the ciss tanks (there are 10), i can get the same amount of prints (which probably translates to like 500-600 A4 prints or more) and all for the price of a brand new set of original inks.
