Hello, I am a new user for this forum and I hope somebody can help me...I have 2 printers: Canon Pixma IP 4300 and MP 520. Can I use cartridges without the chip (around $2.00) in place of original with the chip (around $13.00)? Is it reasonable to buy remanufactured cartridges with chip (around $8.00) or should I refill originals with ink after drilling a small whole in them?
I appreciate someone help very much.

Yourprinter will not accept a cartridge without a valid chip attached. If you buy compatible carts you will need to transfer the chip from your original Canon cart. After a few button pushesyou can then get it to print, but you lose the on-screen low-ink warning. You may also lose the guarantee for the print head!

Here's a link to a site that sells refill inks and a resetter for your original cartridges. It resets the chip to show a full cartridge and keeps the ink level indicator active.
