Default Changing Ink?

Do we have to perform a deep cleaning head every time that we change ink. I have an i850.

The first time that I changed the ink I had a bad experience. My first photo had a lot of line. Then I decide to do a deep cleaning of the head and everything was ok.

Same think happen when I changed my second ink...= line in the photo...so again I did a deep cleaning of the head.

BTW: I'm using easy step software which I like (came with the printer)

THANKS

Most color inkjet printers do a cleaning cycle automatically after replacing an ink cartridge. However, I usually do an extra cleaning as the automatic one is not always sufficient to get the ink flowing properly.

You don't have to do it if you change your inks just after you see a red cross in the driver above it.
If you try to print after seeing this red cross, the ink may start to run out and some lines may appear on your prints - this means that you MUST now change the cartidge (the ink doesn't flow through some nozzles which results in white lines on the printout). And after you change the cartidge you must perform a printhead clean in order to remove these lines.

So remember to change the cartidge right after you see the red cross.

And don't try to remove and put back the inks in the printhead if you don't have to - you should only do it when replacing a cartidge.

Also, don't print a photo just after you replace a cartidge - do a few nozle checks to see if some nozzles aren't blocked. If there are, then perform printhead clean.
