Hi All,

My first posting here, so go easy on me...

I'm using a Canon ip5200, but the Magenta cartridge has run out and the light on the front is flashing.

However, I can't even print Grayscale/B&W now - I specified it in the Properties when printing. All the other cartidges are fine.

This would be such a major design fault (IMHO), that I'm sure there must be a way round it.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks.

If you use a Canon printer with an empty cartridge you will burn out the nozzles for that color and kill the print head. The Canon print head uses heat to boil the ink out of the nozzles and on to the paper. Without the ink to cool the nozzles they will burn out.

Sometimes when a print head burns out it will damage the main circuit board in the printer.
