Default Epson R300 Cuts Off Photos

I tried searching for this issue, but I may not be searching the correct terms.

I bought this printer back in '05 and it's worked great ever since. However, I have to be very careful how I take my pictures...and here's why:

If I take a portait shot of a person do not center it (leaving the top of their head close to the top of the frame) when I go to print it out, the printer cuts off the top of their head! It's very annoying to say the least.
I've tried adjusting my margins, but every 4x6 I print, there's always some part of the actual photo that gets cut off...

Any ideas??

All borderless prints always have some cropping, period.

Wow, I had no idea. I had just assumed it was a printer setting I could not find.

So do all inkjet printers do this?

And if all printers do this, how come borderless photos I have printed at my local Wolf Camera store are not cropped? (If they are, it's not noticable.) I upload all my photos to my PC...when the file image is compared to the film image, they look identical.

Is it b/c the large retail chains who do film developing just have better equipment?

If your R300 printer driver is like the Epsons I have, you can control the amount of expansion under the page setup tab in the driver. The default is medium, IIRC, and I have found that I get good results from using the minimum setting. I find myself getting away from borderless prints anyway. The border can set off the print very nicely in some cases.

Thanks Brian, that was the fix! Can't tell you how often I've just passed over that option and never gave it a thought. Moved it to Minimum and now my prints look exactly like the raw file.

Thanks again!

It would be a setting either in a printer preference, printer dialog or in application, which are affecting your printer. You have to check this setting first and then you have to resize your picture.

Mathew, see my previous post.

In the Page Setup Tab of the Printer Driver, I moved the Borderless Expansion arrow from MAX to MIN.

Now that it's set to my liking, all my printed photos look exactly how they look on my PC. Much, much better.

Glad to hear you got it taken care of, and that is all that was wrong. I have to admit that having that setting on a separate page from the borderless setting box is confusing and has been an issue with quite a few people.
