Default Canon I9900 Magenta cast

I realize this is a known issue... but I haven't really found a believable solution other than one poster who said he replaced the printhead and solved the problem.

I can print a photo on plain paper and it comes off almost perfectly. If I print the same photo to any kind of glossy photo paper it has a terrible magenta 'cast' as if you sprayed the photo with magenta just before it exited.

I found posts related to color management, and someone indicated that this is the classic symptom of double color management.... however, I've been unable to defeat that printing from PS.

It really does appear that the printer wants to over-magenta the print if it finds photo paper... as plain paper works just fine.

What am i missing here? It used to work just fine with no intervention required... now it's not so good...

Not really familiar with Canon printers, but there should be a setting in the printer driver to enable you to disable the printer color management. Another thing you should look into is downloading the latest profiles for your printer. Often, when Mfr changes papers or ink compositions, they will publish new profiles.

Default Replacing the Print Head solves this problem.

Replacing the Print Head solves this problem. Easy pull out and drop in process - solves this problem. No need to do anything else. This works!!! Printer never worked better.
