Default HP 7X60: what's with the rows of white dots???

i'm still shopping, but on some test 4x6 prints i did from a store's 7960 and 7760, i can discern a disturbing artifact: a double row of tiny white dots, stretching across the width of the image. it's almost impossible to see with the naked eye, but an 8X loupe makes it jump out at you! it sure looks like the paper transport mechanism gronked it somehow.

anybody else see this with these printers? it can't be in my image, because it's very slightly displaced when i compare the 7960 and 7760 print. since i see it in prints from two printers, which share pretty much identical technology, i'm inclined to believe it's a design flaw rather than a maintenance/damage problem.

???

If you look at the the exit path of the printer you'll see little 'star wheels' and they just happen to align perfectly with your little white dots. You'll get these using any type of paper other than HP Premium plus glossy photo paper. Also, these are much more noticable with darker photos, such as night shots.

so said the salesman; i was suspicious, but it turned out just as he said.

i've used the sooper-dooper paper, and have been delighted with the results.

thanks for the followup.
