Default Color problems with Epson R1800

I've been trying to print using my Epson R1800 printer but on some prints, but not all, the colors are off and some of the print lines are visible. I haven't used the printer in awhile so I'm wondering if the ink is old or needs to be shaken or something. I have calibrated my monitor so I think that part is ok. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

First question is "What does the nozzle check look like?". If you have any clogged nozzles, it can cause color casts. How old is the ink? I have experienced situations where old cartridges gave me color casts even with good nozzle checks. I think the ink oxidizes over time, and changes color, but only in the cartridge- once it dries on the paper, it is pretty stable. Shaking the carts may help, or may cause bubbles, which can make for their own problems.
