Default Epson 2200 ink "bleeds" on all paper

I have had many problems with my Epson 2200 printer which I have posted about in the past. Everything is finally functioning, but now all my images have a slight "ghost" or "bleed"--like colored water stains--between contrasting colors and with text on a white background. These occur only horizontally and they occur on all paper types. I'm using the Gimp Printer Dirver 4.2.5 because the Epson printer dirver stopped working entirely when I up-graded to Photoshop 7.0. I have a Mac OS 10.2.3 computer. I have tried less ink saturation to no avail, and have checked my nozzle alignments, which are within the specified parameters, though perhaps not quite perfectly aligned. This problem may have started with the replacement 2200 printer (the first was obviously defective, but did not have the bleed problem), or it may have started when I switched to Gimp-print. I was so frantic to get everything to work at all that I did not notice the bleeding at first. Any ideas?

do you use original epson ink? Not third party ink?

lower quality ink have a tendency to bleed, makes you think that the paper is some sort of spounge

Have you tried reloading your Epson driver? Photoshop shouldn't keep it from working, but it might have become corrupted when Photoshop was loaded.

Default printer driver

Gimp-print says it's the printer-driver--I upgraded and all is well! Regarding the Epson printer-driver, I installed, uninstalled, and re-installed repeatedly and it just would not work--I had NO paper choices and the print choices it would list were the most basic--not even good enough for a nice letter, to say nothing of images. No paper size/type options, nothing.
