Default Canon S9000 or Epson 2200

I would like to purchase a new printer. Either the Canon S9000 or the Epson 2200. I scrapbook and need a printer that I can run cardstock through. The cardstock would be a 80 lb cardstock. Which printer would be better for this weight of cardstock. I'm also interested in opinions about print quality and longevity of the prints. Thanks.

I know very little about the S9000, so I can't help you there.

But the 2200 is a very nice printer. It can prints on a huge variety of thinkness papers, and it can use archive quality inks. And those inks still produce very good pictures, with nice color contrast and blending. They had problem with the color of their black ink for awhile, but they came out with a second black that solved that problem (Matte Black, I believe it's called.)

I believe (check Steve's review?) that the Canon can also use archive inks, and they are good (don't last as long as the Epson, I believe, but still very long.)

My girlfriend has the S9000 and loves it (I personally think it outputs an incredible image). I have no idea how it'd handle card stock, though.

The S9000 is also approximately $400 cheaper than the 2200.

I'm not sure why the comparison was between the S9000 and the Epson 2200. The i9100 is the current (soon to be former) wide format printer from Canon. The breaking news section on Steve's site has a press release fron Canon. There's a Canon new wide format printer the i9900.

Dont quote me on this because I dont have my manual in front of me but I dont believe the S9000 will support 80lb stock.

It might not officially support 80# card stock but Iíve run 120# index stock through my S9000. No guarantee but it worked on mine.

The S9000 will not print over 8.5 X 11 completely borderless. The i9100 will and it also has a little better print quality.

The S9000/i9100 will not print widths over 24 inches where the 2200 will go to 44 inches. There is a jerry-rig you can use on the S9000 to print photo quality panoramas of any length you want, but it doesnít work on the i9100 from what I read.

The 2200 uses pigmented ink that can be displayed for longer without fade. The Canons use dye based ink like most other inkjets.
