Heya,

As stated in a earlier thread, i'm out on the market for doing a printer upgrade. The printers I'm considering is Epson R200/300 and i865/i965.

I orderd a test print from canons websie for the i865 and 965, on the picture stated that it is printed on the 865 the dark places gets purple fridgin or tones in it, not completly black and dark as it should (it's enough purple color in color in it to see it good from distance). Have canon just been unlucky with this print? or is this a general problem on the i865?

If so , i think epson wins this battle since its impossible to get hold of a 965 here at the moment.

Thanx in advance for all replys.

Never noticed this at all.

For customers, I regularly print on the i860 to compare it to the i560 (which does not have the dedicated black)

I usually print this image. The blacks are blackest night. I have never seen off color or purple tones with the i860.

Okay,

The reason for me asking was that the image I got from canon had very much purple in the black/dark areas, and when i also noticed it was a guy over at a norwegian site complaining about the same thing i started to get worried (on the i865 that is)

I think you must have been unlucky. I just bought a i865 yesterday from Amazon in the UK. I couldn't decide between the i865, the r300 or the R800. In the end I chose the canon because of its all-round versatility. I was concerned about the photo quality of the i865 but went ahead anyway.

I needn't have worried. The i865 photos are great. Truly, I cannot notice the difference between 6" x 4" printed on my Canon (camera is Fuji 7000) and lab prints printed off my Nikon F70.
