Default Epson Photo 820 (again)

After reading all the questions and answers on here I have one which to me is important:

I have had my printer since July and it seems that the heads clog every couple of pages. Epson will only replace it with a refurbished 820. Needless to say, this $99 printer has now cost me several hundred in ink just cleaning it.

I would like to replace it but am at a loss as to get one with built-in heads or something like a Canon where I can replace it myself.

My printers are also left unused for six months at a time - I am a snowbird and spend six month each at 2 different locations.

Any help for me out there????

Thanks

If you printer is clogging like that it sounds like you really should call up epson they will basically send you a new one as well as new inks to go with it. The real trick is to put distilled water in the printhead sponge. Also if you type epson printhead cleaning on any search engine there will be many sites out there to help you.
