I'm on my second ip4000 printer from Canon. The first one had really bad banding so I returned it. This one has banding that's not quite as bad, but still unacceptable.

I've done all the usual stuff (manual print head alignment, head cleaning, nozzle check) and am still having trouble. The banding/print lines problem is most obvious on a letter-size print of a darkish photo.

- Printing with Qimage
- Using Office Depot Premium High Gloss Photo Paper, some Canon PPP
- Printing at maximum quality ('1'), Canon Photo Paper Pro set in driver
- Brand new, so it's Canon OEM ink

Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong? Is this a common issue?

I've also noticed some scratches on the prints that come out. Could the 10.25 mil OD paper be too thick? I thought Canon PPP was even thicker.

Try sticking to Canon paper, and use the correct settings.

You have checked your original file? I thought I might have a problem with an i865 but it turned out that my brother-in-law's Sony camera has a problem with faint lines in one corner of every shot.

Paul_D - The lines are not in the original and are very clearly inkjet printing lines (they cross the entire paper every 1-2mm).

JonathanV112 - Why should I stick to Canon paper? Is there something magical about their paper that prevents these things from happening?
