Nice tray. I just got an MP780 and was bummed to find out about this whole ridiculous situation. Since ebay-ing the trays seems extremely overpriced for a 1 dollar piece of plastic and I haven't seen any other decent sources, I'm going to try making on myself with either cardboard or the DVD case methods.

But... I've seen 1 or more of you who have the MP760 I believe and haven't been able to get it to work. Is this true - has NO ONE gotten a tray to load and print on one of the multifunction MP printers (MP750, MP760, MP780)? I couldn't find any settings in the service menu aside from CD offset, but the registry hack worked to give me the media options. Since I haven't made a tray, though, I don't know if it will work. I'll be bummed if it wont, but I'm going to give it a try anyway unless someone with a "real" tray still can't make it work.

Thanks to all who have worked on this problem. Hopefully we'll all be successful soon.

Here is the template I made for the tray. No measuring is necessary. After printing it out tape it to your cardboard and cut out the squares, circle and perimeter.

Don't print the picture from your browser. Save it to your HDD then open it in a graphics program. I used PaintShop Pro. The bowser only prints at 72 or 96 dpi. The paint program should print it actual size at 300 dpi. The printout must measure 131 mm x 238 mm.

I'm a little weary as to why you wanted me to sign up on a phishing website and charge one price $10/ea...then a week later charge me $30/ea straight through PayPal. Thanks but no thanks.

I made another tray using my template: http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/a...t.php?id=28040

Here are the top and bottom layers:

Here are the layers taped together. The leading edge was crushed before being taped.

Here's the finished tray and printed disc. Blackening was kept to a minimum which is all that's needed. This tray is 2.5 mm thick, .5 mm thicker than my first tray. The printer had trouble pulling it in so I had to push it in once the rollers started moving. The 2 mm thick tray needed no assistance from me.

Note that the printed disc appears washed out but itis actually darker and has more contrast than the picture shows.

Digiguy makes it look easy, I guess there is no need for spending $30 on those official Canon cd trays. :blah:
