I'm about to buy first printer (ever!). I'm tossing up between medium level printer (eg. R310 or ip5000) or going to higher level like Epson R800. Generally, I gather that reviews and owners are happy with their medium level printers, but they seem usually to be talking about "glossy" prints. So what about printing B+W on matte or satin paper? Does the matte black ink in R800 make much difference or are the "lesser" printers still ok?

Suggestions....

I've read many posts that say the HP printers with the photo gray black cartridge give the truest rendition of black photos. One review showed scans of printed photos from different printersand the HP black photos did indeed look most natural. No mention of matte vs glossy paper though.
