Now my question is which is better the oly 440 or the 730ps in terms of quality. The consumables are hard to figure. The oly is a 8x10 page printer so optimizing your page layout is the key. In the end I think the oly is cheaper to run and buy!

The consumables are dead easy to figure!

The Olympus P440 is very expensive to run!

100 sheets of A4 paper £89.99!!! in the UK

Then on top of that you need 2 ink ribbons as 1 ink ribbon only prints 50 sheets

So Ink ribbon to print 50 sheets is £59.99 x 2 = £119.98

So to print 100 sheets of A4 or 8"x10" the total cost is £209.97

The consumables direct from Hi-Ti in the UK are:-

I've put it all on the above post.

But simply the cost per print on the Hi-Ti is:-

6"x8" = 70p

5"x7" = 50p

4"x6" = 30p

I think that both printers are about the same price to buy, there is not alot of difference here in the UK.

The quality on both printers will be about the same the colour may be slightly different though.

I prefer the Hi-Ti as I can get full borderless prints and I don't have to cut them out, which is what you would have to do on the Olympus, and as the paper is sooooo expensive I wouldn't want to waste any of it!

Cheers Ian

Not sure about the conversion numbers but on the oly its 100 sheets with ribbons for $159 so thats approx $1.60/sheet. The real issue is if your not interested in printing 8x10 then goto the 730ps. My friend has both the 730ps he paid $340 and the oly which on ebay which was direct from oly refurbed cost him $270.. With prober page usage the oly can almostmatch the 730 in terms of price! He uses the 730 when he's on the road and the oly for studio work when a customer is in a hurry and wants an 8x10! He likes the output equally well on both, he thinks the 6x8 is kinda cool and does use it frequently! The downside of the oly is you must have a good cutting board!
