This is the link for the R20/210 series printers:

Don't forget to download both parts "0" "1" or it won't work.

Sorry guys, never tried it out. Idle is right part 3 is missing.

Isn't that the one no-one's ever been able to unzip?

It's missing part 3, so all you get is an error.

Hi Idle , You seem to be the guru of printers

Please help me to maintain my sanity . I have read all thro' the posts and still cannot solve my 'General error ' condition on my R300.

My machine is about three years old and has been used very sparingly. Original cartridges ,new replacements and two refills.

No sign of excess ink (pads seem white where I can see them).Have used three button method to bring up ' clear waste ink ctr' and shut off printer to no avail!

After repeated turning on and off over last couple of days have on a couple of occassions managed to get it to start and do a nozzle check and printout but not print a test page. Alas can't get it to do this now.

You mentioned ,on a previous post , the paper sensor maybe out of position ,is this a possible cause of malfunction and can this be corrected easily?

In hope.............................................. ..

This might be a communication problem (possibly a corroding contact on the printer cable or in the printer) or a fault in the printer driver corrupting the print commands.

At three years old your original drivers have been superseded at least once -- have you updated them?

You could also try uninstalling the software and re-installing, also try plugging the cable into another USB port.

That it printed the nozzle check suggests that the paper feed is OK -- paper feed problems are usually identified as such, though not always with the actual fault.

If it was the waste ink counter, you'd get a message to the effect that 'parts in the printer have reached the end of their useful life -- contact your service agent and pay him money to fix it' or something like that, which is when you'd reset the counter and install a waste ink tank.

A 'general error' is something the printer's firmware doesn't recognise and is, often as not, the result of an error outside the printer's control.

Hi Idle , Thank you so much for your quick response to my queries :-)

I had uninstalled drivers and re-installed using original disc. However I will nowtry the latest upgrades and try usb cable in different port as suggested . Let you know the result later!!

Thanks again for taking the time to help out.Feel insanity receding as I realise I am not alone:-):-):-) There are some good guys out there :-):-)
