Default Printer choices

I am new to computers, digital cameras, etc.
Have just purchased a Canon A40 digital camera and now need a printer. I need something that will do both text (schoolwork-teenagers) and photo's from my new Canon.
I have been looking at:
Canon S900 ($300 with rebate)
Canon S820 ($225 with rebate)
Canon i550 ($180)
Canon S750 ($150)
Epson 820 ($160)
Canadian Dollars
Any suggestions on choice or any other models within this price range.
Thanks

The HP in canada is a bit more than 150.

But on the other side if you are considering buying an epson I would look at the epson 825 over the 820 because of the fact that it has 8 different drop sizes for uses on all papers. The canon only uses two different droplet sizes. HP only uses one. But if your primary purpose is text and every once in a while photos you should look at the epson c82 This printer boasts the lowest cost per page on the market as well as the fastest speeds with precise texures in printing. Basically as close to a laser you can get without buying one. The only downside is that the colors tend to be flat on photo paper. BUt on the matte and plain where photos in frames tend to look better with because of the non glare it looks really good.

Personally you might want to if you got the room opt out for an epson 820 and a epson c82. Both combined will be cheaper than a canon 900. Plus you get the best of both worlds. Although HP does have one that does both via a cartridge swap. Its black text printing costs just as much as an epson 820/825 does at 5 cents a page vs the epson c82 runs about 2.5 cents a page for black printing.

Gary,

I purchased the Canon S820 plus three packages of 4 x 6 paper from Staples.com for a net cost of $116 yesterday.

In addition to the Canon $50 rebate Staples has an online coupon. One $30 (79991) for purchases over $150 and one $50 for purchases (79183) over $200. These coupons are not just for use with Canon prodcuts. Staples had the printer listed at $199.99 but they price matched Buy.com's price of $186.
Shipping is free but I had $18 in tax. If you do not get charged local tax then the printer and paper only costs you $98. I only bought the paper to get the cost over $200, you could have purchased anything.

Cheers
