Default Canon S900 noise

Just purchased a Canon S900. I'm reading how quiet it is supposed to be and this is true when it is actually printing. It's when I turn it on that noisy. For about 30 seconds I here a series of clicks and pops. Is this normal or do I just have a defected one?

As far as I know, all inkjets are noisy when they start for the reason that Gregersonsalvage stated. My past experience is that the Epson may be the worst.

Thanks for the response, but I think mine is a bit excessive. I may be paranoid because I bought it in an open box deal. If you can here this tell me what if you think.

Your printer start-up noises are very normal, sounds exactly like my S9000.

Sounds like my S900. Mine takes that long sometimes - but usually shorter and ends with two clicks with about 2 or 3 seconds between the clicks. I agree it is disconcerting but appears to be normal - mainly print nozzle cleaning - which is fine with me if it reduces the probability of clogging.

thanks for all the responses. I guess this is normal after all. But guess what I now have another concern/problem. Please see my post 'Canon900 & Ritz 4x6 photo paper'.

It sounds defective, just box it up and send it to me quick. Actually it sounds about the same as mine does. Its a little hard to tell with the recording. I have only used 8.5 x 11 photo paper pro with mine so far but it prints great. Merry Christmas to me. It and my new G3 seem to be a fine pair. If it prints good pictures who cares what it sounds like. It doesn't make as much noise as my wife does when she is sleeping and I keep her.
