I have HP Photosmart 1000 printer (2001) it's worked fine with my new computer with Win XP for a year now.

It just started acting up, but sending out blank pages. I went online to HP Live Help and spend about 6 hours with several different dingbats. They all say uninstall then re-install. I did this but it wouldn't install saying it wasn't compatable with XP. Finally I got it installed over again.

Now it prints in Word, but not in My Labels. HP said when the ink gets below 40% it doesn't work well. Mine was 32%, so I put in another cartridge, but it still is acting up. Now that's a lot of wasted ink, and it's expensive.

I searched online and found many people like the Canon, and the ink is so cheap.

Which one should I get? One that people liked was the i470D.

I have a digital camera but have most of my prints done at Wal Mart, so I only want to print a few photos, but I want them to look GOOD.

Thanks.

Shirley

The Canon i470D was discontinued by Canon some time ago. The new line of printers are the Pixma series.

I suggest you compare the Canon iP4000 or the iP5000, they both do great text and photos. Use google to get reviews.
