Default White border on "borderless" prints

I've been printing away on my new Canon s900 and am quite happy with the results. HOWEVER, it seems whenever I try to print a BORDERLESS 8.5 x 11 print I ALWAYS get a small 1/8" aprox. white border all around (various different paper stocks). Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

I always go under the printer settings and select "borderless"... It's a small white edge, not that big of a deal, but if a printer is marketed as BORDERLESS it should be just that! By the way, 4 x 6 borderless prints come out just fine! Any comments?

I am running a S9000 on a Mac.

On my "page setup" menu there is a slider
labeled Amount of Extension.

If you have this, make sure it is set to MAX.

Mine defaults to MAX and I have had no problems
with either 4X6 or 8.5 X 11 borderless prints.

It prints right to the very edge of the paper.

Yes John, I have tried that, Have it set to MAX. Still getting a small white edge all around... I wonder if it has something to do with the software I am using for output. I am using a page layout program called Quark Xpress... ? BB

Brian,

I have no problems with borderless 8.5 x 11 on my Canon but I do almost all of my printing out of Qimage (which I very highly recommend as a print program).

I am sure that your problem is software. You could try a borderless print with Easy Photo Print which you can download from the Canon website if it didn't come with the printer.

Thanks, I'll try that. I'm a graphic designer and I'm so used to using these high-end graphics programs that I overlook the small programs that probably work better and simpler! BB
