Default Reducing ink usage

I have recenlty purchased an Epson 825 Photo Printer and am amazed at the amount of ink that I am going through. Does anyone know of a setting to reduce ink volume? The interface seems to be the same as many other Epson printers.

Rather than try to reduce ink useage, I would suggest you reduce the cost of the ink you buy. I have used generic ink bought off the Web for three Epsons at less than 1/3 the cost of the Epson stuff. I have used www.carrotink.com with great success for years.

I agree with Wildman. Reduce costs by purchasing other OEM inks. Look at these prices:

That's the complaint with my Epsons as well... It's 5-color cartridge is too small! Did you try to reduce the dpi (it'll also print faster)?

Printer Properties > Main > check the Custom box then pull down 720 instead of 1440 dpi, and see if you like it... BTW you can also name and save this profile (or create new ones for the OEM inks).

Thank you for your input.

I have heard good and bad about generic inks, although the cost is hard to beat. I am still concerned about usage however. I have printed maybe six eight by ten's and have used almost 1/2 of the color cartridge. This just seems so extrime! I like the idea of reducing DPI and will try it.

The worst problem I've encountered with generic inks is variance in color. I've used several different brands over the years and have found PrintRite brand to be very good quality and true to Epson original color. I buy mine from www.007ink.com.
