Default Need Inkjet photo paper source

I am in the process of making book covers, and I need paper for my Canon S9000 that is at least 11x17 inchs in size. Canon sells a brand called Photo Paper Pro 13x19 at $16.04 for ten sheets. That is too expensive for my book covers. I tried some plain glossy paper, but the pictures turned out crummy. I guess I need some real inkjet photo paper of some kind. I know that one can buy clone ink cart. Do any of the deals sell a good inkjet photo grade paper that is 11x17 or larger (I can cut it down.)?

I forgot to add, that I will have to laminate any inkjet photo paper I use, because it's probably not going to be thick enough for a book cover. I bought some real nice xerox 12 pt with a glossy finish that was made for a laser printer, but it did not work. The blacks and colors were all wrong. I don't understand why inkjet printers need some special paper, but they do.
