Default Canon S820, S900, S9000 - separate ptr for b/w text?

Having done everything to educate myself in the new world of digital cameras, scanning, and printing, I have some simple questions:

I'm referencing Canon printers regarding the model numbers below.

1) the S900 is no longer available. Why? What was its price compared to the S820 which is about $130? Was the S900 a 6-ink printer? Is it still possible to dig up an old-stock S900?

2) the S820 is a 4-ink printer and it has been said that an S9000 color photo print does look "better" than the S820 (by nature of ink difference). Thus, I'm torn between a $130 S820 and then you have to make a HUGE jump to the S9000 at $500. Does Canon plan to put something in between that price range in a 6-ink printer?

3) if I want a separate text-only (b/w) printer, what is a good choice? IOW, if I get an S820, I would need a second printer for the non-photo printing.

Thanks in advance.

My mistake. So, the S820 IS a 6-color printer. The i850 is the 4-color printer (i.e. a comprimise between photo and text).

Was the S900 a 4 or 6-color printer? Will the i950 be 4 or 6? Is the i950 the one that is coming out in February?

Default check steves reviews again

Both are 6 color printers and people say the picture output is pretty much the same. S900 & S9000 are faster than S820 and they are the same just the S9000 is wide format 13x something. If you check some post on here they say the S900 has a feed problem if your not using Canon Pro paper, it seams to go off center every few prints using other paper. You can get the S820 for $120 for Buy.com. Funny about text, there is not one review about Photo Printers Canon/Epson or HP that say they do good text. Even reviews of Epson 960 say the text was washed out so i figure these people who say this have Laser on the brain. It's the only printers they seam to think should be used for text. MY 6 year old Epson 640 did great text, good on plain paper but great on the better quilty Canon Super Bright & Kodak Super Bright white paper which sold for about $8.00 for 500 sheets.
the i950 is the replacement for the S900 and it has more nozzles and smaller but uses the same inks. IT is supposed to be better than the S900 or 9000 becasue the pixils are 2 something. There is a post on here that takes you toa site that has reviewed the i950. it's under S900, S9000 or S820 post, sorry don't remember which one.
