Hi!

Iv had this printer for a few weeks now and im at my wits end trying to get it installed.

I have contacted Epson but they just sent me the latest driver but it did`nt help.I install the latest driver & then connect the printer. The PC then detects the printer and brings up the installation wizard and prompts me to insert the disc that came with the printer & i do so. It scans the CD for about 10 - 15 secsas if its installing the software and then comes up with the followingerror everytime

"An error occurred during the installation of the device"

"The required section was not found in the INF"

The system im running is as follows

Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2

AMD Athlon XP 2000+

1.67GHz 256 Of Ram

Could someone please help me out as i don`t know what else to do as Eposn can`t help me & this is my first printer so im no expert myself.

Any help atall would be much appreicated.

Cheers!

Ricky.

I've not run into this problem before -- Epson drivers usually install without any bother nowadays (as they should -- Epson have been in the business long enough...)

My first move would be to uninstall the existing Epson printer software (and drivers, if you can) and start over, preferably using the latest software from the Epson website rather than that on the CD.

To make sure it's a clean start, I'd also delete the Epson folders and clean out all reference to Epson printers from the Registry (if editing the Registry, make sure you back it up first!)

If you haven't edited the registry before, it's now time to learn!

There's no need to be afraid of it -- all you need to know can be located on the 'net and it's more straight-forward than you might think, though tedious.

(There are also utilities available to more-or-less automate it -- but you still need to study the thing a bit before using any of them.)

Sorry I can't be more helpful -- advice-by-wire isn't all that easy.

I cleaned the regestrywith regcleaner and reinstalled with no joy.

I really don`t know what else to do.There`s bound to be someone out there thats has the same error before a resolved it it`s just finding them.

I'm wondering if maybe it's a Windows problem -- you might try a system repair and see if that helps.

To do this, stick your CD in and go through the new install procedure (in full) until you've hit F8.

At this point it should give you several options, one of which should be to repair an existing system.

If you see this (sometimes it doesn't appear -- if it doesn't then just cancel), choose it and let the install complete.

XP is pretty good at finding corrupted files when you do this, and at the end everything should be just as you left it.

It's saved my bacon more than once.
