I purchased the epson picturemate deluxe recently and was disappointed that it would not read my Sandisk ultra II 2GB SD card but did read my two 128MB cards, I notified Epson's web based support teamand this was their response.

Thank you for contacting the Epson Connection.

It is true, if you are using the Printer as a standalone then it will
not
be able to hold the memory file from your card. If you attached it to
the
computer and used an application to send images to the printer then you
may
be able to print. There is no software update that would change the
printer
capability to read cards over 512mb.

In conclusion this means if you're using a card larger than 512MB that the deluxe is just as good as the regular picturemate since you need to use your computer or camera to set up, edit and print pics, so the lcd and all the other built in features are obsolete.

Well just thought I'd share this so anyone interested could save money and forget the so called Deluxe.

That's rather unfortunate in today's climate of larger capacity cards .

Sorry you had to find out the hard way, but thanks for posting your findings here so potential buyers are now aware.

Well done on an informative first post !!

YeaI was pretty shocked since one of it's competitors the HP 475 GO GO has a built in 1.5GB memory to store photos. I actually first contacted Epson by phone and a customer service rep told me the picturemate can read cards up to 1GB but before I purchased another card I contacted their support team by email and the above response was sent back about not being able to read cards above 512MB, so Epson really needs to get some specs straight before notifying the public. If someone has tried a 1GB card please let me know if it works.

OK new update, I got my hands on a Sandisk ultra II 1GB SD card and the printer reads it? So I guess the first customer service rep I contacted was correct and the web based support team is clueless.:? Well I'm done withmy research and hope this has been helpful to anyone interested in this printer.

On another note the printer's pics are great for the price ($199.99 after a $50 rebate) and the features are neat and simple to use.

Till my next purchase.

I am thinking of buying a Picturemate deluxe, but am worried about the limitation on card size. Have others been able to use 1GB SD cards (or greater) with the Picturemate?

This (the deluxe) and the non-deluxe model have the same output correct? Just the deluxe has a colour lcd and the non-deluxe one doesnt?

There's 3 models of the PictureMate: Original, Express and Deluxe

The Original and Express does not have a color photo viewer.

The Express printer is same as the Original except thatphoto print output is faster.

Deluxe has a 2.5 inch viewer that allows for photo cropping. You can also purchase an optional battery.
