I recently got the Canon Pixma ip4000 and love it. This may be a stupid question, but since I use the printer only for photos I was wondering if I could use the Photo Cyan and Photo Magenta ink cartridges instead of the standard cyan and magenta. My theory is that this might produce slightly more vivd photo. Has anyone tried this?

Cheers.

Some refill kits don't offer a photo cyan/magenta but rather offer a ink base solution for you to dilute regular cyan/magenta. I don't know for a fact that canon "photo" inks are diluted versions of the full load dye inks, they sure look like watered down editions. From my understanding they are just fill inks that go between the stark cyan or magenta dots to make them look smoother, rather than dots on a white background.

So, i imagine you can try it, but odds are the effect will be a washed out image in the cyan/magenta department but strong yellow and black.

Humm, I guess that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
