Default Need Advice for photo printer- Canon S820 or I950

I'm in the process of purchasing a new printer and I will choose between the 2 above. I have also looked at the HP 7350 and 7550, but I heard they are expensive to maintain (ink cost).
How are ink costs for the Canon?
I will be printing 4X6 pictures only and will also need to print text. Should I go with 1 of the 2 above or is there another photo printer I should be looking at?

Default apples and oranges

The 820 cost almost half of the 950... If you can afford a $250 printer, go with the i950. It is up there with the best as quality goes, and at the top when it comes to speed...

BTW, A typical HP photo printer takes 15 to 25 minutes to print a high Q 8x10 photo, where the i950 will take 2-4 min...

If you are printing 4x6 pictures only get the hi touch photoshuttle. It will print 4x6 prints just as fast as the canon and still be cheaper to print with at only .40 cents a print.

The Hp printer is around a dollar a print. The canon printer is around 80 cents a print.

Seriously if you are only looking to print 4x6 prints check this out http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_...toshuttle.html

The s820 is superior to the i850 (just ask Steve) and I just read an article from an i950 owner who could not see any difference between the 950 and his old s900...http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...essage=4299673
Also, check out this page:http://www.dp-now.com/cgi-bin/forum/forum.pl/read/5389
I'm a big fan of the 820 and it's cheap at www.buy.com

I have a love hate relationship with my HP Photosmart. I love the output (outstanding) but hate the cost (ouch). If I printed everyday I would get a Canon. As for taking 15 to 25 min. to print. There is something wrong with that printer. My HP 7150 will print a superb 8x10 in about 5-6 min. I also like the idea of Dye Sub printers for 4x6 prints. Right now it seems Canon has the right idea. Enjoy your new printer.
