I was looking at the Selphy DS700 (I think that is the one), given that it also has TV out so that he could check his work on the TV before he prints...but not sure if there are some others you guys would recommend over this model...looking to spend no more than, say, $150...advice?

Just about all the Canon's have a pictBridge so anyone would work. The only thing would be to know what kind of camera he had and if it could interface with a TV so he could see the picture much bigger befrore prints.

I would assume his camera has the LCD screen on the back ?

Yea, he has an LCD--it's an old Nikon 4100, I believe...the camera upgrade is next year's X-mas present.

You might also look at the HP portable Photosmart 475 GoGo printer.

It has a 2.5 inch adjustable color LCD, direct printing from a digital camera, red eye removal.

It has an internal storage device that can store up to 1,000 photos.

Prints 4x6 and 5x7 photos.

Does slide show by connecting to a TV (include TV/video cable).

...sounds like just what the doctor ordered, thanks....will take a look at this one. I was leaning toward Canon, as I recently made the migration from Epson printers, which I have used exclusively for a long, long time...like the low ink consumption...cheap replacements...great output...etc.
