Default Usb 2.0

Do you have to have the 2.0 usb cable to get the fast print speeds in the i950? What are the requirements to get the fast speed? I'm waiting for Best Buy to get the printer. Gotta like them extended warranties. Does the printer come with the usb cable? Thank you.

No matter what the store associate says any standard usb cable will do the trick. Believe me I was once one of those store associates.

Also if you are going to get a warrany do not buy one from best buy. They take a month to fix anything. Get one from canon direct. I believe they sell factory extended warranties on thier products.

Default I wondered about that

Thanks Greger. I thought I read on here somewhere that you have to have the usb 2.0. I'm glad that's not the case. We've bought alot of stuff from Best Buy with the warranties. I guess I've had good luck with stuff. Never had to take anything back for warranty purposes. How do you find the time to be on here as much as you are? You've offered alot of help to people on these forums. It's nice to come to a message board with classy, helpful people.

just checking in here. i just looked up the i950 on the canon usa website. when looking at the interface it did mention USB but not which version. if it supports only USB 1.1 it will go no faster then 1.1 speed when hooked up to a 2.0 interface. cabling is not an issue but the interface is. a printer is not a high speed device and generally doesn't have a large buffer so speed is generally not their forte.

if you have a 2MB to 40MB image on your computer and a 256KB buffer on your printer you are not going to get blazing speed out of any of these interfaces.

in short: Good things come to those who wait.

http://www.usa.canon.com/html/conCpr...&section=10214

the complete specs on the i950

no cable enclosed

i would call canon and find out which version of usb it is using.

a 2.0 device plugged into a 1.1 interface will run at 1.1 speed only
a 1.1 device plugged into a 2.0 interface will run at 1.1 speed only
a 2.0 device into a 2.0 interface= 2.0 speed capable
a 1.1 device into a 1.1 interface= 1.1 speed capable

Yeah the usb 2.0 will only work if you have usb 2.0 on your computer.
