I can't seem to print directly to cd's. I have the MP500 with;

- the proper tray (D - ordered it directly from Canon Australia)
- I changed the firmware to Eur
- European Drivers (even tried Asia)
- CD-Labelprint 1.2 (tried other progs too)

It goes through all the proper motions, cycles the tray /w disc in...then keeps ejecting it. Then an error message comes up that says, "The CD-R tray is not inserted or a printable disc is not placed on the CD Tray".

Anyone have any ideas at all??? Thankss

Do not insert the tray until you are prompted to do so. If it is inserted to early in the process the result is what you describe.

Yeah I read that somewhere else on this board. Tried it...doesn't make any difference.

I'm having the same problem. I have successfully changed the MP500 to EUR and have a Canon Tray D, and it gives me the same message previously mentioned (after taking the tray in and then ejecting it). I have tried reinstalling the drivers, and have tried printing on two different types of printable CDs. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Here's another twist... My Tray D works perfectly in a ip4000 printer which accepts Tray B. Visually, Tray D and Tray B are almost identical, and the reflectors appear to be in the same places on both trays. It makes me wonder if my Tray D is actually a mislabeled Tray B.

I also have a Tray B kicking around. They are indeed very similar. I thought I was on to something last night as I unchecked a config box that said "Reconize When a Printable Disc is Inserted". Made no difference though. I'd love to know why this is not working....

I'm in the same boat also. MP500 set to EUR and printing with Tray D complains that "There is no CD-R tray. Attach the tray and press [OK]." Tray is not inserted until prompted to do so.

I'm curious to find out how many of you out there with a US version MP500 and Tray D are able to print on CDs?

I just need to know if this is a lost cause or if there's some hope for success with the MP500 cd printing. So if you are printing with an MP500, please chime in.

On the bottom of my tray "D" is QC1-8028. I'm not sure if this is the part #????

According to the following posts the correct # should be * Canon P/N " QL2-1203-000"

I bought this off of seller from eBay. Maybe the versions that we have are for a somewhat different version of the MP500? Anyone have any thoughts?
