Canon chipped cartridges has been mentioned.. perhaps someone can enlighten me here-:

Am I right in assuming that these chipped cartirdges are for ink monitoring only? That if they run out, obviously the printer will stop, but once you refill them the printer starts to print again but minus the ink level monitor.

Meaning on a refill tank you have to keep a eye on the level, at least until a chip resetter comes onto the market for these - Am I right or wrong on this point

Where as with Epson you have to refill and then reset the chip to start printing.

Thanks for that.

I think as I wont be using the printer heavily (just printing a fewof my favorite shots from each shoot), I will stick to original cartridges.
