As soon as I started the printer, it jammaed under the left edge and made a grating sound..
The tubing was probably not tight enough or set in such a way that the slack was dropping into the path of the carriage unit and it got caught.. Myself I use silicon lubricant to lube the tubing as this tends to reduce the risk.

Eventaually all the ink ran out from the PG5 bottle.
That sounds like a free flow and poor positioning of the reservoir (ie: too high). You should never have the ink level higher than the printhead.

The system was made in China, that may have been the problem. Do you recommend any other kits.
In a word.. No!.. I've only had any success with kits that I've built myself using the original Canon cartridges and even that has been limited.

I would instead recommend you get some tips on refilling from the nifty-stuff forums and just refill your original OEM cartridges (you should have two sets now which should make things easier).

Hi Magicman,

We do make CISS units for these printers. Our units are a combination of US ink, reservoirs from China, Cartridges from AU (all produced and exported from Australia).

I've attached a link to our install manual for the IP4200 which may help you get answers in relation to the CISS unit you pruchased from another company that doesn't work.

http://www.rihac.com.au/instructions/canon/IP4200.pdf

We have conducted hours and hours of R&D on our Canon units and distribute around 1K units per month for these printers without significant issues. Canon printers are the hardest to develop stable CISS units for, primarily due to the hollow rubber head grommets which seal off against the cartridge base. Due to the print head design the grommets can in some cases allow air to enter under the cartridge. This can cause air in CISS lines requiring head cleans to fix. Most customers (well over 95%) install our CISS units without issue. Those who have bad seals in their printers we can provide specialist assistance and in these particular printers we use -o- rings inside teh grommets to ensure a seal.

We are also in the final stages of testing a newer CISS cartridge design for the Canon series which we will release over the following months.

Feel free to visit our website for further information www.rihac.com.au

Hope this helps and always if anyone has questions feel free to email us at info@rihac.com.au(please post replys to emails you send us as the answer may assist others who view these forums).

Regards,

Sam CAHIR

My i960 recently died so I am looking at the ip4300 to replace it and an aging HP 970. Please keep us updated regarding your experience with your new CISS. May I inquire as to why you are apparentlynot planning to get your inks from RIHAC?Am I wrong inassumingfrom your post thatyour CISS came prefilled.

Thanks,

Zane

The reason for not buying the ink from RIHAC is simple, shipping costs from Down Under. If you are ordering something else anyway fine but adding shipping to an "ink only" order makes it expensive. I bought a CIS from Sam but for refilling I use ink from inksupply.

How's the new CISS working?

Have you decided which ink you are going to use?
