Default Help! S820 vs. i950 w/mac and sony? IYYEEEEEE???

I"M so confused! I've used a 2 mg toshiba camera for a couple years and want to move up. First I upgraded my old windows computer to an Apple runing the new OX 10.2. (I love it). Next month I intend to buy the new sony dsc v1 camera when it comes out.
But the problem this month is the printer. I have an epson stylus 870 that has served me well. Now however with the new photoshop elements and apples iphoto (they both work great) I can't get accurate color on my prints. Although I have played with the settings of the printer and the computer and have made improvements, they are still poor.
Reading thru the forums I see several knowledgable recomendations for the canon i950 suggesting the color matches what you see with photoshop elements. Its also suggested that the difference between this printer and the canon s820 is minimal.
Is this right? javascript:emoticon(':?:')
But then I got in over my head. Some cameras support exif or pim or who knows what? Would this printer be right with the new sony camera I have my heart set on?
One other question. When I print a picture with photoshop elements the color is much less red than when I print the same picture using iphoto. What gives, it's the same file?javascript:emoticon(':?:')
