Default Best Printer for 4x6 prints

I am not worried about doing any text printin. 95% of my prints will be 4x6's. I do not care about cost or print time only QUALITY. I've read through about half of the forum and see that the i950 and 2200 are top notch. Also what about dye sub printing? I currently have an HP 1215 and it blows chunks

I have HiTi 630ps and it provides high qulaity pics. It will accept CF and SM for direct input to the printer. This is a very good dye sub printer that I have been very pleased with the results. Hi
Touch Imaging is introducing a newwer model the 640ps. The 640ps has some new features but the basic design priniciples as the 630ps. Both printers has a similar model that is not stand alone. They are the 630pl and 640pl. All of the four models can be connected to a computer, but the PS models do not need computers for printing. The cost of printing is fixed at 40 cents per 4X6. A 50 Photo Paper pack includes the ribbon and paper for $20. Read Steve's review of the pritner. This is the link http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_...iti_630ps.html

I agree! I have the 640 PS and it is a great printer. Actually any HITI printer would work out great for you. It depends on how much you want to spend.

The prints are great.

those printers are definetly not out of my price range. How do they compare to lab prints, is there a waiting time before you can touch them(on my 1215 if you touch them the ink comes off)

In my opinion...the prints are just as good or better than your local 1 hour photo lab.

The photos are dry to the touch right after they come out of the printer.

The prints are smudge, water, UV proof and they claim tear proof although I never tried.

Actually you can go to their website and request sample photos. The printer only prints glossy photos but you can put a matte-like finish can also be applied.

Steve has a good review on two of HITI's printers.

I have found that www.********.net has the best prices for the printer itself and the paper. When you get to their web-site enter the model number in the search box and it will come up.
