The best? Oh, boy. (Gentlemen, ready your pistols...)

Nikon Capture is good, but for the $100.00 price you could buy the latest version of Photoshop Elements and get not only a great RAW converter, but a full-featured editor to boot.

Capture One has a big following, too, but it's even more expensive than Nikon Capture.

Bibble is a good, stand-alone converter. I think it costs less than Nikon Capture.

You might consider Breezebrowser, too.

I'm a bit prejudiced towards Adobe, since their Camera Raw (the RAW conversion component of Photoshop and Elements) is all I've ever used besides the inadequate software (NikonView) that came with my camera. But, like I said, with Elements or Photoshop, you get a two-for-one deal!

You won't be able to get RAW support for the D80 with PS7. For that, you need the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw which is supported by PS CS2, and (I'm assuming) Elements 5.

Bibble may not have come out with an update yet that will support the D80. Check back with the site occasionally or ask their customer support when such an update is due. I have no idea whether it does a better job than Nikon Capture, but a google safarii might find some sites that have done such comparisons. Web searches will also reveal many RAW conversion programs. If you plan to make regular use of RAW, you should investigate the possibilities and settle on one whose interface and range of control you like.
