Hi, I just purchased CS 2 and discovered actions... a bit overwhelming. Where can I find some help or a "cheat sheet". The book (on cs 2) I bought doesn't even deal with actions. I have played around with them and find them addicting...but I have no workflow or method for using them...thanks, donna

Actions are just a series of things you do in Photoshop that you want to repeat on other images. The easiest instructions are in Photoshop Help under "creating a new action".

You basically start a new action, name it, start recording, do all the stuff to an image you want done in the action and stop recording. You can insert stops and conditionals. You can also batch run the action on a series of images. You might do a search in help for "actions" and read some of the topics. Don't overlook Photoshop help when learning something.

You can also download actions that other people have made. They work somewhat like plug-ins and can be fairly sophisticated. There are some very good free actions here: http://www.thelightsrightstudio.com/photoshop-tools.htm Try the "digital velvia" action. He has some easy instructions for importing the actions into Photoshop: http://www.thelightsrightstudio.com/...tionBasics.pdf

Dr Mitchell usually announces new tools like actions on this forum with username gmitchel
