Default Infrared

I there a way to simulate the infrared look with Photoshop?

Yes there is...
Click create new fill or adjustment layer at the bottom of the layers pallet. Select channel mixer and click the monochrome box. Whatever the dominate colour is in the picture, slide that slider all the way up. Out of the oter 2 sliders, place one at 0% and the other at -50%. Play around with this for a while to get a good tone and close the box. Next select gaussian blur and set to 10 pixals. As soon as you have clicked OK press ctrl+shift+d (edit-fade gaussian blur) Set this to 50%. To get a true effect you will need to add noise. Select filter-noise-add noise. Click mononchromatic and tinker with the sliders.
