Default Big prints

I presently have an epson 870 printer which has done an excellent job for me when it comes to 8x10 photo prints. Well almost, the lines I get when it has been inactive for a few days does drive me crazy, or is it ink poor, after using the head cleaning botton a few times to get rid of them. Anyway. I want to buy a new printer that will do the 13x19 prints. The canon 9000, which must be out of production, because it is not listed at the canon website anymore, would be my first choice. It is still around for about $200 to $300, at a number of websites. My other choice would be the 9100 but at twicw the price is it worth it. Also what does anyone know about the epson 2200 other then it cost a lot more then the 9000? Are the two more expensive units that much better then the 9000?

Ive got the S9000 and love it, its amazing how much better it is than HP. It wont do bordeless at 13x19 But Matting takes care of that. The 9100 I know does 13x19 borderless and I think higher dpi. I was in the same boat (couldn't decide) but they said the same thing 9000 discontinued so they sold me one that was on the shelf for $ 150 they decide for me.

Canon does 9000 rocks for color--but forget B&W---practially useless. I got mine from Tigerdirect for 199--hard to find these days.

Hi, genohc!

I have the 870 too with the same problem you described. I have to run the nozzle check utility about every other day to keep it working, and, even then, it sometimes plugs up -- sometimes right in the middle of a print job. It's frustrating to say the least.

I, too, considered buying a Canon. Then I read a thread on one of the forums about the Canon heads plugging up too. It sounded like I would be getting the problem with Canon that I was trying to rid myself of by replacing the Epson. There is another new wide-format Canon coming out soon (the 9900, I think). I'm going to wait and see what people say about it before I decide to buy a new printer.
