For Matlab users, I've developed a toolbox that makes it easier to create applications which make use of the Canon SDK: http://www2.cs.uh.edu/~somalley/camerabox.html

The main advantages are that the Canon SDK is not required, there's a lot less coding involved (about a dozen lines of M-code for a basic "poll the camera capabilities and perform a shutter release in manual mode" program), and it requires no knowledge of C/C++. Right now it (only?) implements about 40 of the more popular SDK functions, but more will be added with time.

Anyway, thought y'all might find this useful,

Sean
