I am looking for a software program that allows a low res. image a scanned image or a SLR digital image to be enlarged to something as big as a 9' x 12' image or bigger keeping it clean and clear without distortion or pixilation. What software is capable of this?

This software is made for printing VERY large images. It does a good job, but there are no silver bullets for big size AND very high resolution.

http://www.mylifesize.com

This site includes a closeup photo of a lifesize print made from a 2 mega pixel point-wait-and-shoot camera.

Keep in mind that the bigger the print, the farther back the viewer will probably be so the final print quality may not have to be as good as you might think.

If the "cutout" software mentioned by cutupguy meets your needs I would consider just using Qimage. It can spread an image to a specific sizeacross multiple sheets using its custom settings menu,I would expect it to havebetter interpolation methods for expanding the image, and it also provides a complete set of advancedprinting capabilities all for about the same price.

You are right about Qimage. I print with it when making photo cutouts. It does a wonderful job. However, it is a far more complex program to learn from scratch than the one at mylifesize.com.

For someone wanting to just make a lifesize cutout, and who doesn't need the full power of Qimage, simple might just be better. It allows you to specify "this person is xx inches tall" and it will make the image "lifesize".
