Ricoh Caplio R3 test?

Hello everyone,

Has anybody tested this camera? I can't find any review of it.

I have the slight impression that Ricoh is a bit despised.

It looks great with its zoom and wide angle.

Yes, the R3 looks phantastic at first glance, but only at first glance. Image quality is simply way below the average of 5 MP cameras. It's Ricoh's old disease noise, which also ruins this camera.
In the Caplio R3 thread below you find a very good review of this camera by w4rmk, which confirms the above statements.

Two French magazines have just published a review of the Ricoh R3 in their January 2006 issues, their conclusions being:

CHASSEUR D'IMAGES :
pros : optical performance - build quality - ergonomy - image stabilisation
cons : (acoustical) operating noise - distorsion at wide angle

MICRO PHOTO HEBDO :
pros : wide angle 7x zoom - mechanical image stabilisation - correct noise
cons : no optical viewfinder - poor screen - poor finishing
