Default New RR30 Firmware v1.18

18/04/2003 v1.18

Brightness of pictures taken in multi-photometric mode has improved.

Flash shooting of predominantly single-color subjects has been improved.

There are some samples to compare RR30 with different firmware:

For those able to read German I can recommend that forum:

The new v1.18 firmware works MUCH better! So much so that I went in and re-wrote my conclusion text in the Ricoh RR30 review and re-shot most of the outdoor pics. Before the new firmware it was really underexposing outdoor pics, as much as 2-3 full stops.

Ricoh Gate L for Windows XP

Ricoh Forum: Digital Cameras: Ricoh Gate L for Windows XP
By RR30-UK on Sunday, May 25, 2003 - 10:31 am:

Ricoh have an update to the Gate L software so users of XP can use it now.

Make sure you install the software on your Ricoh CD first of all before installing the update.

Regards, Simon

Can I ask what is gate L software. The Cd I got with my camera does not mention it by name. I run XP and upload Photo's without a problem. Will upgrade the firmware though. Can't find any support on Ricoh website for RR30 though.

Ricoh have followed the lead of other manufactures and stopped supplying graphics programs with their cameras.

These programs were never free anyway, the cost was factored into the camera price. For the average point and shoot photographer who only want to make basic changes to their images, this is not a problem. Most operating systems have a graphics program that will do the job.

The best advice I can give is to buy a Card Reader and download that way. Its quicker and cheaper. (You dont have to buy an AC adaptor to avoid power interuption and possible card error while downloading)

The link at the top of this thread is for RR30 Win2000

The link below is for RR30 WinXP.
