Merry Christmas Everyone!

Well. I just got back from the first Christmas party of the season and my excellent wife gave me a Xacti C6 for Christmas.

I was overjoyed to say the least. I charged the thing up right away and started taking vids.

Here's what I did.

1) Recorded video and successfully viewed it via the cameras viewfinder.
2) Plugged the camera into its base and plugged in the power supply
3) Plugged in the USB cable to the base and then plugged it into the PC's USB port
4) Set the USB screen to "Card Reader"
5) Waited a minute or so for any sign that the C6 has been recognized.
6) Realized that a connection would not happen and unplugged the USB cable. The camera then plays a cool sound and goes back to camera mode.

What am I doing wrong? Shouldn't the computer recognize the camera with little or no effort?

Can you provide any suggestions as to what the problem might be?
What should I try?

Any help would be appreciated.

Well.. I've done some reading and it looks as if you do not need to install anything from the CD ROMS in order for the PC to recognize the camera.

That's the only useful info I have found so far about solving this problem.

Well if I remember I think you have to press a button on the base to kick start the connection. It shows up as a drive in My computer. The other alternative is to take the SD card out and plug it into a reader.
