Just got the SANYO CG65 with a Sandisk Ultra II 4GB card.
Unfortunately the movies I record have a lot of digital noise (little squares al over the place).
Tried different ISO settings, Different movie quality but it does not get any better.
Any sugestions.

Bought the camera at J&R in NY but am already back home in South America and have no chance of going to the store for an exchange.
Could it be a firmware problem

Nope not a firmware problem, welcome to digital movies!!

It's just insufficient light, that's all. Simplistically speaking, the sensor is not sensitive enough for what you are shooting and the result is digital noise.

If you've got $50 you can get the Neat Video "Home" plug-in filter for AfterEffects / Premiere / VirtualDub / Vegas. That limits you to 720x576 frame size and 8-bit color. For $100 you can get the "Pro" version which has no limits.

The results are uncannily good, unfortunately, it sucks up amajor amountof CPUtime to process even small files. Plus, it's a hassle to shoot the video, import into the computer, clean it up with neat video (usually overnight), edit it into a clip, etc., but such is life. :-)

Same thing with digital photos in case you had not noticed: and similar solution. $30 will get youneat image"home" edition, $60 the "pro" edition.

There are other alternatives for photos such as Noise Ninja, none that I'm aware of for video however.
