I got a HD2 this week and am currently playing around and getting used to the controls. I have shot video in various modes for quality comparison but am having problems with the SDV 720x480 mode. When I drag these files into iMovie 06 the clips appear as 640x480 4:3, even though the project type is widescreen 16:9. Same if I open the file with quicktime. Am I missing something here?

SDV (= NTSC DV 720x480) and SHQ (= VGA 640x480) should both target a standard 4:3 aspect ratio ("fullscreen"). The only real difference is that NTSC DV (= a TV) has non-square pixels (10:11) whereas VGA (= a Computer monitor) has square pixels (1:1). It's always been a slightly nagging issue going from a computer to a TV. How your Mac software handles this, I'm not sure...perhaps you can tell it that SDV= NTSC DV video?
