Contemplating buying the Xacti HD1000 camera but first would like to find out weather....my current laptop...dell1330, core2duo 2.2, 4gig ram, 128meg vram....iscapable of carrying out all aspects of video production from transfering footage from camera to computer,editing, playing, dvd publishing......what do you think girls and boys.....f ps:let me know if you need any more info....

Yup, those specs sound fine. I have a Sony TZ 1.06Ghz Dual Core with 2GB ram and that's what I would say is the bare minimum. The CoreAVC codec is definately required to just play 1080i. Vegas Pro is less than optimal but still usable. Natrually once you're done editing, rendering to DVD or whatever is always going to take the most time but that doesn't require you to be there.

I have a separate Quad-core video tower thankfully. Go for it, the HD1000 is a great camcorder.
