I am not able to playback recorded video on my HDTv or to my computer using the included AV and USB cables. I have tried this using the "PAL" and "NTSC" settings with all the different cables supplied. What am I doing wrong or do I have a camera issue?

I know this is a very stupid question but did you change the video input setting on your television from the menu?
Also, is your handheld in play mode? don't use record mode |

Yes, I changed the video input setting. Yes, I had the camera on play. I also tried the supplied USB cable on the computer that also was not recognized. I wonder if the supplied cable connector that fits into the camera base is defective. It seems awful loose! I regret every buying a Sanyo product. Their support is none existant. They list the HD700 GX2 docking station kit as an accessory but you cannot even purchase it from their Web store.

Here is the solution, You have to connect the power plug to the adapter. I had the very same problem earlier and figured out that the mini connector which connects to the bottom of the HD800 has to have external power connected to the wall.
Hope this helps. |

Thank you for your advice. I was connecting the ac cord without any success. The ac portion of the adapter works-i.e. I have power to the unit. The USB portion I believe is defective. There is no part number to try to order one, Sanyo web site does not list HD 800 in their parts catalogue, the HD 2 seems to have a similiar part but no way to be sure. I Emailed Sanyo support almost 2 weeks ago but I have not received any reply. Quite frustrating. I have the option of up loading the SD card to the computer and going from there!

I share your frustration. Are you sure that part is defective?

Well, guess what? I turned the USB cable connection to the cable adapter upside down (opposite from what Sanyo shows) and I've got a connection!! Surprise, surprise, surprise!!!
